Went to go look at a kitten right after I got off work, 30 minutes before them closing. My wife and I were 100 percent sure we wanted it but we were told she wasn’t ready also couldn’t put a hold on her but to keep checking. We were assured by the front desk we were the only ones who asked about her so they would keep a note for us. Unfortunately, I worked the following day so my wife went again the next morning 8 min into them opening and when she went to go check on the kitten my wife was told the kitten was already adopted and that the person is on there way to pick it up. Keep in mind we were told adoption has to be in person and can’t be by phone. I’m aware it’s not the poor animals fault but there is a lack of professionalism and communication there by some of the staff members, I would like to note though some of the staff is very welcoming and kind but this is probably the last time we go to try adopt there felt like we were lied to for personal convenience.

This shelter does a lot for the community. Helps the animals, helps employee the community, and helps the community with animal welfare needs. It has great staff and volunteers who go the extra mile and put in hard work day to day. I highly recommend coming in and seeing the facility and getting to know the staff, and maybe finding an animal to adopt. There is a TNR program and a food pantry for helping feed the public's animals if they need assistance. Picture of puppy we adopted included!

Our helper was a very nice guy. Took care of my Moms. She wanted a companion and it being a male kitten. 1st one we saw, we looked at all of them, Golum was the one. Runt of 3 that were in cage. K helped with paper work, let Moms Foster/adopt him until shots and neuter are done. The cutest little guy, on the way home thinking of a name. "Marshall" it is. So playful and she loves him bunches. Thank you Humane Society!

I visit regularly. The animals are well cared for. I would like to see more free adoption events in hopes to promote more forever homes and a faster turn over. Or even short term foster families. Some families would love the opportunity to bring a fur baby home on a trial visit to see if the pet can manage during work, education and training in the absence of human connection.

We recently paid a visit to the Yuma Humane Society about attaining information about euthanasia for our dog. We were mortified to realize when you commit to the procedure, you are not allowed to be with your pet during the procedure due to a “lack of room” in a small office space, or so I was told …which confused me intensely as during our visit we were escorted into an examination room similar in size to any vet examination room. We refused the service after realizing their protocol and policy, and made arrangements elsewhere.
